ന്യൂഡല്‍ഹി: പ്രായം ഒന്നിനും ഒരു തടസമല്ലെന്നും വെറും അക്കങ്ങള്‍ മാത്രമാണെന്നും വീണ്ടും തെളിയിച്ചിരിക്കുകയാണ് വസീം ജാഫര്‍. ഇന്നലെ തന്റെ 53-ാമത്തെ ഫസ്റ്റ് ക്ലാസ് സെഞ്ചുറി നേടിയ വസീം ഇന്ന് പുതിയൊരു റെക്കോര്‍ഡും കുറിച്ചിരിക്കുകയാണ്. റെസ്റ്റ് ഓഫ് ഇന്ത്യയുടെ ബോളര്‍മാരെ വെള്ളം കുടിപ്പിച്ച വസീം ഇന്ന് ഡബ്ബിള്‍ സെഞ്ചുറി പൂര്‍ത്തിയാക്കി. ഒപ്പം ഒരു റെക്കോര്‍ഡും.
40-ാം വയസില്‍ ഫസ്റ്റ് ക്ലാസ് ഡബ്ബിള്‍ സെഞ്ചുറി നേടുന്ന അഞ്ചാമത്തെ ഇന്ത്യന്‍ താരമെന്ന റെക്കോര്‍ഡാണ് ഇന്ന് വസീം നേടിയത്. 22 വര്‍ഷങ്ങള്‍ക്ക് മുമ്പ് തന്റെ പതിനെട്ടാം വയസില്‍ ട്രിപ്പിള്‍ സെഞ്ചുറി അടിച്ചായിരുന്നു വസീം ആദ്യ അഭ്യന്തര ക്രിക്കറ്റിനെ ഞെട്ടിച്ചത്. അന്ന് മുംബൈയുടെ താരമായിരുന്ന വസീം ഇന്ന് വിദര്‍ഭയുടെ താരമാണ്.
അന്താരാഷട്ര കരിയറിന് നേരത്തെ തന്നെ വിരാമമിട്ടെങ്കിലും റണ്‍സ് സ്‌കോര്‍ ചെയ്യാനുള്ള വസീമിന്റെ ദാഹത്തിന് ഇന്നും കുറവില്ലെന്നാണ് ആഭ്യന്തര ക്രിക്കറ്റിലെ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ പ്രകടനം കാണിച്ചു തരുന്നത്. ഇറാനി ട്രോഫിയില്‍ റെസ്റ്റ് ഓഫ് ഇന്ത്യയെ നേരിടുന്ന വിദര്‍ഭയ്ക്ക് വസീം വെറുമൊരു സീനിയര്‍ താരം മാത്രമല്ല ഒരു വഴികാട്ടി കൂടിയാണ്. ഇന്നലെ ഫസ്റ്റ് ക്ലാസ് ക്രിക്കറ്റില്‍ 18000 റണ്‍സെന്ന കടമ്പയും വസീം പിന്നിട്ടിരുന്നു.
ഒടുവില്‍ വിവരം കിട്ടുമ്പോള്‍ വസീം 284 റണ്‍സെടുത്തിട്ടുണ്ട്. വിദര്‍ഭയുടെ സ്‌കോര്‍ 586 ന് മൂന്ന് എന്ന നിലയിലാണ്. അതേസമയം, ഒരൊറ്റ ഇന്നിങ്സില്‍ വസീം കുറിച്ച റെക്കോര്‍ഡുകള്‍ക്ക് മുന്നില്‍ തല കുനിച്ച് നില്‍ക്കുകയാണ് ക്രിക്കറ്റ് ലോകം. മുന്‍ ഇന്ത്യന്‍ നായകന്‍ സൗരവ് ഗാംഗുലി, ഇതിഹാസ താരം വി.വി.എസ്.ലക്ഷ്മണ്‍, തുടങ്ങി അനവധി പേരാണ് വസീമിനെ അഭിനന്ദിച്ച് രംഗത്തെത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നത്.
